My wife and I were born in Vietnam. We met and married at our home church in 1976. This church was in C&MA of Vietnam. We have two adult daughters, one son-in-law and grand-daughters.
We left our home country as boat people‟ and went to a Malaysian refugee camp. Then we settled in Melbourne in 1981. In 1984 I went to the Bible College of Victoria, and studied a missionary course, we wished to do missionary work after graduation at the end of 1986. My wife and I have had willing hearts to do missionary work since we were young.
In 1987 The Vietnamese Baptist Church in Brisbane, Queensland invited us to serve God as their pastor. So God led us in this direction. I did pastoral work in this church until 1998. I took study leave for two years and studied at the Union College of California.
In 2000 Trans World Radio invited me to work with them. I worked with a program which was called “Thru The Bible”. This program was from America and was translated into Vietnamese, and then broadcasted into Vietnam. It took five years to study the whole Bible. It was a very good exercise!
In 2006 a fellow pastor, Khoi Phan shared with us about the missionary work in Cambodia with the Vietnamese people. We grew interested this field. I went to Cambodia in May 2006 for two and half months on a short term mission. My wife came over one week before I returned to Australia. God moved in us about this field as we saw many people who did not know Jesus Christ. We then joined the C&MA of Australia for missionary work in Cambodia.
We have been in Cambodia since April 2008. We are currently studying the Khmer language full-time for six months. On weekends we are involved with the New Hope Church, we work alongside the Vietnamese pastors and support them.
In the future, after we finish the Khmer study, we will be more involved in leadership training, Bible teaching and planting new churches in different locations.
Living and working in Cambodia is not easy, even though we come from an Asian background. We need God‟s strength and protection every day. We also need your prayers for us.
