Qualifications for Pastoral Service

The qualifications for pastoral service are twofold.

Spiritually, a person must have had an experience of salvation, be wholly committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, know a call to full-time service, have some experience in Christian service and be in agreement with the C&MA's doctrine and vision for ministry.

Educationally, a person must have a minimum of a Dip. Th. (preferably a B.Th.) from the Alliance Institute for Mission or its equivalent. At the conclusion of theological training, an ordination study programme must be completed including an oral doctrinal examination.

Ordained ministers from other denominations seeking credentials will undertake a course of reading and will be examined by the Ordination Council.

Qualifications for International Worker Service

The qualifications for missionary service ministry are threefold.

Spiritually, a person must have had an experience of salvation, be wholly committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, know a call to full-time service, have some experience in Christian service and be in agreement with the C&MA's doctrine and vision for ministry.

Educationally, a person must have a minimum of a B.Th. from the Alliance Institute for Mission or its equivalent. At the conclusion of theological training, an ordination study programme must be completed including an oral doctrinal examination. A 2 year home service assignment forms the final preparation prior to departure to the appointed mission field.

General Qualifications include a willingness to endure hardship, counting the cost of missionary service, adaptability to new situations and cultures, good emotional health, be of appropriate age and have a family which qualifies.

Senior Pastor (Cantonese Ministry Pastor)

Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church (BHCAC)

BHCAC belongs to the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination of Australia. It has three congregations of around 220 individuals: Cantonese (approx. 140), English (approx. 30) and Mandarin (approx. 50). It is seeking a Senior Pastor to serve the leading role of a pastoral team and overseeing the Cantonese ministry together with the Cantonese pastoral worker.

The successful applicant is to provide a spiritual and visionary leadership to all Congregations, including teaching, discipleship, development of leaders and evangelism, in accordance with the Bible teachings; plus, mentorship to fellow pastors. This position also develops and administers the Cantonese Congregation to carry out the vision and values established by the Advisory Committee for the Church as a whole.

Essential criteria:

• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or with Legal Working Visa

• Valid Working with Children Check and Police Check

• Bachelor Degree in theological studies or related field

• Agrees with the doctrine, statement of faith and mission of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church

• Able to be officially licensed as a Pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Australia

• Able to preach on stage and coordinate sermons for the Cantonese ministry

• Experience and ability to outreach to the surrounding community

• Ability to lead a pastoral team for needs of certain ministries

• Fluent in Cantonese, English

Desirable criteria:

• A Master of Divinity or equivalent post-graduate theological degree from an accredited Christian seminary or school

• Experience in family ministry

• Experience in Senior Pastoral position

• Ability to speak Mandarin

Youth Ministry Pastor

Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church (BHCAC)

BHCAC is part of Christian & Missionary Alliance of Australia. We have three congregations of around 220 individuals: Cantonese (approx. 140), English (approx. 30) and Mandarin (approx. 50). We are seeking a youth ministry pastor to oversee the ministry, which consists of a group of high school students (approx. 15) and adult leaders (approx. 4), and to report to the Senior Pastor. The expected workload is 22.5 hours/week.

Role and Responsibilities

- Word

- Preaching to the youth during service

- Leading them in Bible discussion innovatively

2. Relationships

- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with, as well as caring for, the youth, youth leaders, and parents

- Reaching out to more youth by connecting in local events and schools

3. Training

- Partnering with the youth and the leaders to equip them with ministry skills

- Supporting transitions from primary school and to the English congregation

4. Meetings

- Facilitating the leaders meetings

- Attending council meetings

- Contributing to pastoral team meetings

Pastor - Children's Ministry - Part-time

Job Description:

Are you a compassionate leader with a heart for children's ministry? Perth Alliance Church North is seeking a dedicated individual fluent in English and able to understand either Mandarin or Cantonese, to serve as our part-time Children's Ministry Pastor! You will be working in collaboration with the pastoral team and leaders of other congregations to lead the church in one unified direction from discerning God’s leadership. Selection Criterion:

Developing Discipleship: Create and implement a curriculum to systematically disciple children, helping them to grow in their faith. This position is also vital in providing worship guidance for Junior Church services across different ages.

Family Support: Provide guidance and resources to help families to follow Jesus faithfully, nurturing their spiritual growth together. You will need to recognise the difficulties and facilitate cross-generational communication strategies, and support for special needs children.

Team Development: Work together with other pastors to strengthen the Children's Ministry team through mentorship, training, and encouragement, fostering their growth as leaders.

Communication: Identify and communicate the needs of Children ministry in the regular pastoral team meeting.

Background: This position is part of the Ministry Team at the Southside International Church (SIC) situated in Sunnybank Hills, Brisbane, and answers to the Senior pastor. SIC is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church and is a growing multicultural Christian Church consisting of English, Hmong, and Mandarin Congregations. This position is a fulltime role focused on reaching and discipling the next generation youth for Jesus.

Associate Pastor - English Ministry

Sydney Chinese Alliance Church is a vibrant community within the Christian and Missionary Alliance Australia, encompassing two distinct congregations: Cantonese-Mandarin and English.

The English congregation, known as George Street Christian Community, has flourished and now boasts a congregation of approximately 30 individuals. This diverse congregation comprises high school and university students, working adults and young families.

Job Description

This is a full-time pastoral position entailing the development and supervision of all ministries within the English Congregation. The responsibilities include:

· Providing pastoral care for young families with children.

· Regularly delivering sermons during Sunday services.

· Collaborating with team leaders to provide guidance and oversight for existing ministries.

· Engaging in evangelistic efforts within the Rockdale community.

Associate Pastor - English Congregation - Full Time

Hills Christian Alliance Church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Australia. We have three congregations (Cantonese, English and Mandarin). We started the English congregation in 2008 and have developed into a mature congregation with about 50 people. The congregation consists of high school and university students, working adults and young couples.

We are currently running the following ministries:

- Sunday Worship

- Friday night fellowship

- Young Adults cell group

- Children Sunday school

- Worship team practice

- Bible study

We have a team of leaders in the English congregation who are involved in those ministries, however, we are looking for a suitable candidate called into pastoral ministry to further develop and disciple our English congregation.

Job Summary

This is a full-time pastoral position that has the responsibility of developing and supervising all ministries of the English Congregation, the goal of which is a Christ-centered ministry that builds up believers, trains them for ministry, and equips them to reach others.

Qualifications

1. Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree in theological studies or related field.

2. Pastoral Experience: Minimum of one year pastoral experience. Experience may include internship, mission work, or other full-time or part-time ministries. Sensitivity to issues in a multicultural, multilingual, and multi-generational congregation is preferable.

4. Acceptance of C&MA Statement of faith, Doctrine and Tradition

5. Love People: A caring individual willing to invest in the lives of his flock in doing life together. Is skilled and involved in interpersonal relationships and works well as part of a team.

6. Administrative Skills: Has appropriate administrative skills particularly that of prioritising in planning, organising, executing and delegating lay leaders in such a manner that develops a spirit of team ministry. Willingness to work with pastoral and office staff is a necessity.
